Words of Valentine

Pledge

I will never believe that I am a tiny pin prick on the Earth. I will never believe I have very little worth. I will live my life so that I will forever remember it, not so I will forever be remembered. I will be joyful, I will be kind, I will remember tears I cried. I will forever believe in you and me, I will forever fight to be free. I will always smile when you do, and I will hold your head up high too. When I fall my strength will prevail, it always has, always without fail. I can’t be anything better than what I am, but that has to be enough, now take my hand. I don’t have to always be tough, but I will never be alone. I will hug you when I am sad, and you will hug me back in time. I will not waste you, oh precious life. I’ll write this letter to myself tonight, and I pledge to live by these simple rules. Be happy, just be happy, it’s all you have to do.

Remember when I was young and you were gone?
I cried into my pillow
I cried alone
every night I was scared to sleep
no one whispered goodnight to me
and while I grew up stronger than I should
I never stopped missing you

Now I am older
and you are so close I smile
you have to remember that you were gone
for years you were gone
even when you were around
I was never number one
maybe you should lay off the lectures
and just hold out your hands

I understand that you want the best
but I cried
I got lost
I was so screwed
surrounded by alcohol
surrounded by cold
and I became the best person I could
so don’t be angry
that I can’t be like you
